This website helps players, referees, and game officials learn the official IIHF referee signals.

Use the buttons at the top of the page to jump back to Practice. On the practice page, use Practice and Signals to move between the quiz and the signal library.

Use Penalties and Game flow to decide which signals should appear in the quiz.

You can train with only penalties, only game flow signals, or both categories together.

Click an answer box to select it. Correct answers are highlighted in green. Incorrect answers are highlighted in red, and the correct answer is highlighted in green.

Once an answer is selected, it cannot be changed until the next question or a reset.

The practice section shows your current score, highest streak, and current round.

Score: you receive 1 point for every correctly answered question.

Streak: the highest number of questions answered correctly in a row.

Round: one round means that every quiz-eligible signal in the selected categories has appeared once.

Questions are still selected randomly, but a signal cannot appear again until all other quiz-eligible signals in the selected categories have been asked.

Signals marked as unavailable or without a specific referee signal are not included in the quiz.

After answering, use Next Question to continue. The next question is generated randomly from the remaining signals in the current round.

Use the Reset button in the practice controls to restart the current training session.

The reset clears your selected answer, score, streak, round progress, and generates a new random round queue.

The signal library shows all available signals with their rule number, English and German name, description, and penalty information where applicable.

Signals without a specific referee signal are still visible in the library and are marked with a NO SIGNAL overlay.

Penalty badges show which penalties may be possible for a signal, for example 2 min, 5 min, 2 min + 2 min, 5 min + 20 min, 20 min, or PS for penalty shot.
